It is so important to brush your teeth, gums, and tongue after every meal and at bedtime. Remember, brushing too hard can damage soft mouth tissues so use a soft toothbrush and be gentle. TIP: Dip it in warm water to make the bristles softer. We have our own soft bristle brushes in Kit.
Using a soft toothbrush will help avoid irritating your gums especially if you have a low platelet count. To keep bacteria away, keep the brushes separated from others to prevent cross-contamination. If toothbrushes touch they can swap germs. NEVER share your toothbrush and thoroughly rinse it with tap water after brushing to remove any remaining toothpaste and debris. Store the brush in an upright position if possible, allow the toothbrush to air-dry until used again. Avoid storing in a closed container as moist areas are particularly prone to bacterial growth.
REPLACE YOUR TOOTHBRUSH REGULARLY. Keeping it longer can lead to bacteria buildup, which can cause a slew of oral health problems.
