Swimming for light exercise

Swimming is a great way to keep you cool during our hot Summer. It’s a good source of light exercise to help combat fatigue and reduce strain on joints, and soothe aching muscles.

If you have a low white blood cell count, you should avoid public pools and beaches to reduce your risk of infection from water-borne bacteria. Be sure to recognise your limits as you may not have the same strength so adjust your activity level accordingly. You do not want to get into difficulty swimming.

To avoid skin irritation after swimming in a pool, wash off the chlorine right away.
