You may feel awkward and not know what to say to a friend or family member with cancer.

I once had said to me, years later “Sorry I didn’t contact you, I don’t do cancer very well!” What the!!!, they’re not doing cancer, I was!

Listening is the most meaningful and helpful thing you can do. If you’re not sure how to start the conversation. It’s okay to say, ‘It’s difficult. I don’t know what to say.’”

That way you acknowledge the situation rather than pretend it’s not happening.
