Newspapers, journals, photo albums, magazines

Don’t keep magazines, books, journals and newspapers where you can trip over them.

Shelli often had journals, photo albums, magazines and notes piles up around her. Too often we stack them on the floor  because these is no room elsewhere.  Unfortunately you can trip or slide on these stacks if left on the floor. We don’t want broken bones!

Either have a safe place to stack them, pass some on for someone else to read or head to the recycle bin.

Patients undergoing cancer treatment are more at risk for osteoporosis and bones weakened from metastatic cancer can break or fracture. Extreme care needs to be taken not to trip over items on the floor. Clear space around you especially before darkness.  You don’t want to lose your footing in the dark and go for a slide.

If you fall, let your medical team and your caregivers know. They might need to check you for injuries.
